Puddle Jumper for Virgins, Not That Kind of Virgin!

We landed in San Juan on time and jumped in a van I had waiting on us for a ride to Fajadro. Back in 2008 you could line up a ride to Fajardo airport for a short hop over to Vieques or the ferry. The only bad part was the hour long cab ride however, all of the new sites kept our minds occupied. The traffic on Puerto Rico's main island is a mad house! I have no desire to ever drive the main island, well San Juan area anyway. Upon arriving at the airport for our virgin moment of puddle jumping we learned we were on "Island Time". No one in a hurry here folks just sit back and relax. It was time to take deep breath because we got to Puerto Rico and to the small airport with no issues. Great planning paid off big time! The stress of travel was now behind us for the most part except that puddle jumper sitting on the tarmac laughing at us virgins.

The Vieques Air Link flight to Vieques was one heck of a good time for a couple of island hopper rookies! Here get on this plane that has bench seats that look like that they came from a '57 Chevy. Okay, swerve all over the runway and shake on take off. After you are airborne look down and get mind blown from the view of the water, can do! Pray to any god to make it to the Island of Vieques in one piece, don't worry we had that covered before take off!!! Wife squeezing hand off during the flight and really hard on descent to the island runway, check! There is nothing like going down like a dive bomber to a small runway sitting on paradise for the first time. Wow, what a ride that was and both of us still in one piece! It was a relief to know our next of kin were not to receive any news of our demise. I had been in a small plane once before but it was a stupid day in my life. Early twenty's and thought it was a great idea to go jump out of a plane. The power of movies on the young mind! The jump was successful as you can tell but never to be done again. Virgin puddle jumping is a must for all ages and is safe! Still after all of these years the island hopper is our point of knowing we are on vacation in paradise again!
