Well another year has gone by and as I sit here at my computer after the bags are packed and the check list are being checked by LiLi. It's off to Puerto Rico so we can get back to Vieques Island once again. My mind drifts off to the thoughts of why we must make our yearly trip to Vieques. This trip for us is a necessity to our existence on this wonderful planet. Once you have done the whole Vieques Island trip it sticks in your mind forever. The flight to Puerto Rico just looking down and seeing all the beautiful water that you are flying over is incredible. Then it is off to the island hopper which we love and have written previously. This is when I tell myself we are finally going back home to where our souls belong and yearn to be. Vieques is spiritual to us in a way we could never explain. Oh yeah! Back to the island hopper! Walking out on to the tarmac to embark in our small plane shaking and shuttering down the runway we are off to the land of paradise! Bobbing and weaving at 1,500 ft. holding your lovers hand and being blown away from more incredible views. It is like the first time every time we fly it is so much fun and knowing what awaits at the end of the flight. Blue and green waters white sand beaches are below and once you land and get off the plane you're hit with the smell of the Island. That sweet smell of flowers in bloom flamboyant trees with all of their glory the smell of the water smell the salt air the smell of paradise. I can smell it all now as I sit in my house a thousand miles away. We cannot wait to jump in the jeep we rent from Jurgen and drive down the roads to see the Island of Paradise, which we call Vieques. Don't hesitate book your trip to Vieques and make time to explore the whole Island and you too will yearn to return...to Paradise!
We leave in a few days and this trip will mean a little more to us, this being our eighth trip. We will doing a little house hunting this time around because we are getting close to our move to Vieques. That's right the Vieques Beach Bums will soon be full time bums, well with a little part time work here and there. Gotta pay the bills somehow and the water is not cheap on the Island. That to us is little sacrifice to live in paradise or as the Bravos Boyz like to say "Live Where You Vacation" either way it works for us. Hope to see you on a beach soon!
